Traveling to the 2026 World Cup? Discover how to find the cheapest hotels in Los Angeles, near the stadium and key fan areas

The 2026 World Cup is getting closer, and several cities across the United States, including Los Angeles, are preparing to welcome thousands of fans. SoFi Stadium, which will temporarily be renamed Los Angeles Stadium during the tournament to comply with FIFA sponsorship rules, is set to host eight games.

The FIFA World Cup begins on June 11 with the opening game at Estadio Azteca, also known as Estadio Banorte, where Mexico will face South Africa.

Canada’s first game will take place on June 12 against Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the United States will open its tournament that same day against Paraguay at Los Angeles Stadium.

Best areas to stay in Los Angeles during the 2026 World Cup

Even with only a few weeks left before kickoff, fans can still find accommodation options. According to a report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association, several hotel operators in Los Angeles have reported bookings below expectations for the tournament.

According to WorldCup-Travel.com, fans hoping to stay close to Los Angeles Stadium should consider Inglewood, the neighborhood where the venue is located. Other strong options, especially for visitors planning to combine games with sightseeing, include Santa Monica, Venice Beach and areas near the FIFA Fan Festival or other fan events.

The most expensive and cheapest neighborhoods in Los Angeles

Luxury areas include Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills, Holmby Hills and Brentwood.

Fans traveling on a mid-range budget may want to look at East Hollywood, Mar Vista, Culver City, Los Feliz and Silver Lake.

Meanwhile, more affordable options could be found in Echo Park, Koreatown, Boyle Heights and Glendale.

Still, it is important to note that even lower-cost areas are expected to see major price increases during the World Cup. Budget accommodations that would normally cost between $75 and $200 per night could easily double or triple in price during the tournament.

Tips for booking accommodation during the 2026 World Cup

Although there is still time to find a place to stay, fans are advised to book as soon as possible before prices rise further. Travelers should also consider setting up price alerts on platforms such as Booking, Hotels.com, Expedia and Google Hotels.

If you are attending multiple games, staying closer to the stadium may make more sense. Fans going to just one game could save money by staying farther away, although transportation around Los Angeles is expected to become more complicated during the tournament.

To reach the stadium, host cities like Los Angeles will provide public transportation services. While fares are expected to increase during the World Cup, they will likely remain cheaper than ride-share services such as Uber. Fans who prefer ride-share apps are encouraged to split trips with others to reduce costs.
