Truck fire burns 40,000 pounds of steak: A carnivore’s worst nightmare
Last week, the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District responded to a tractor-trailer fire on Route 174 in Missouri with the vehicle transporting 40,000 lbs. of ribeye steak.

Last week, a semi-truck carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks caught fire on Highway 174 near Doolittle, Missouri. Firefighters from the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District responded to the scene.
The tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames. According to the fire chief, it’s believed the fire started after a tire blew out and the driver continued to drive, causing the tire to catch fire.

The incident was the first fire call for a probationary firefighter named Jenna Ulrich, who is reportedly the only vegan on the department. The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District posted about this on their Facebook page, joking about the irony of a vegan putting out a fire involving a massive amount of steak.
The driver of the truck was uninjured but both eastbound lanes of the highway had to be closed while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
