Trump continues Irish-American Heritage Month tradition: “They voted for me in heavy numbers so I like them even more.”
Since 1991 every US president has designated March as Irish-American Heritage Month. President Trump continued the tradition yesterday.

Prior to the visit next week by the Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin, President Trump made the presidential proclamation for the fifth time (4 times during his first term). He is convinced that Irish Americans turned out at the polls to support him in 2024, “They voted for me in heavy numbers so I like them even more.”
The proclamation describes the descendants of Irish immigrants in the US as “some of the toughest, most driven, and most devoted people on the face of the Earth.” The documents also recognizes, “Their faith in God, love of family, and indelible commitment to our national promise continue to inspire citizens all across our country.”

Irish-American Heritage month
Every March 17 Americans celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The parades in Chicago, New York, Boston and Kansas City are legendary and people of all backgrounds put on some green and have a beer to celebrate their ancestors who left Ireland to come to the US.
Millions of Irish were forced to leave their homeland in the 19th and 20th century due to the famine and British rule and the corresponding conflict between the two nations. The proclamation explains the importance of Irish immigrants in US society and culture. “Irish-Americans courageously overcome adversity and hardship to embolden our culture, enliven our spirit, and fortify our way of life.”
“This Irish-American Heritage Month, we commemorate the special bond of friendship between the United States and Ireland.”
