Uber Eats delivery man opens the curious “burrito” he was going to deliver and immediately goes to the New York police
After detecting a strong smell from the meal he was delivering, the driver decided to stop and investigate what was inside the order.

Food delivery has become a staple for many restaurants and fast food outlets. It was already popular before the pandemic, but during the lockdowns, many establishments had to offer this service just to keep their businesses afloat. While most deliveries go off without a hitch, there are always exceptions.
One such example happened to a delivery driver in New Jersey. When he picked up an order—a burrito from a restaurant in Lindenwold—everything seemed normal. But once he got back to his car, the supposed food item emitted a strange odor that was nothing like what a typical burrito should smell like. Instead of a burrito, the package contained nearly an ounce of marijuana.
The driver noticed the issue on his way to Glassboro when he stopped in Washington Township, prompted by the strong odor. To his surprise, inside the aluminum foil was not the expected food, but cannabis buds. He immediately reported the incident to the Washington Township Police Department.
Officer Lou DeStefano disposed of the wrapping and confirmed the evidence: inside was a significant amount of marijuana sealed in a plastic bag. Alongside it, there was also a bottle of water and a box of soup.
Ongoing investigation in Uber Eats cannabis delivery
The local police humorously commented on the incident through their social media channels. “When your burrito delivery comes with extra greens... and we’re not talking about guacamole! This wasn’t the kind of wrap anyone ordered,” they explained in an Instagram post.
Despite the lighthearted way of addressing the situation, authorities confiscated the substance as evidence and launched an investigation to identify the intended recipient of the drugs and to determine how it ended up in the supposed food order.
New Jersey law is clear: possession of marijuana is allowed within legal limits. Adults over the age of 21 are allowed to possess up to six ounces of cannabis and cannabis products. However, transporting or distributing it outside regulated channels is strictly prohibited and constitutes a serious offense. Authorities are now trying to determine if this delivery violated any laws
