UFO or art project? This mysterious sphere that landed in Colombia has experts puzzled

Researchers in Colombia are struggling to explain a mysterious metallic sphere with an unusual appearance.

The Hill reports that the object was spotted flying over the town of Buga in Colombia before landing nearby. The three-layered sphere has unusual marking around the outer shell and doesn’t appear to have any welding marks or visible joints, the type that would usually be found in something man-made.

The mysterious over its construction has led some to wonder whether the object could be of extraterrestrial origin. One of the researchers investigating the object, Jose Luis Velazquez, was surprised to see that it contains “no welds or joints” However others point to a more mundane story.

“It looks to me like a really cool art project,” said Julia Mossbridge, the founder and board chair of The Institute for Love and Time.

So far there is nothing, aside from the unusual construction, to suggest that the mysterious orb is actually otherworldly. Mossbridge has seen little to suggest that it’s come from outer space, but she does maintain that it could still reveal a bit more about the nature of life on our planet.

“If an artist is doing this, why is that?” she asked. “Well, I think it’s partly the same reason. It’s because we’re learning that we don’t understand what’s in our skies, what’s in our waters. And there’s something going on that’s essentially bigger than us.”

Mossbridge added: “Frankly, we’ve been looking at UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena) for decades, and the federal government has admitted that there are things that we don’t understand, but we are investigating them.”

It’s certainly true that there has been a renewed interest in UFOs in recent years, marked by numerous Congressional hearings that attempt to unveil some of the most contentious incidents in the history of such objects. One former Air Force officer has testified that the US government has overseen a decades-long project to reverse-engineer some ‘vessels’ recovered at crash sites in the United States.

While the latest finding in Colombia almost certainly has a more earthy explanation, it taps into that same sense of wonder and unease that has characterized UFO research for decades.
