The United States Coast Guard has announced on social media that it is experiencing a nationwide temporary network outage. As a result, they have limited radio communications.
They have encouraged all mariners to monitor VHF Ch 16, which is integral for maritime safety, and to use the radio channel if there is urgent distress to get in touch with the Coast Guard.
They are also urging all mariners to report any incidents of distress to the Coast Guard through their telephone.
