The dress code for the US Election 2024: these are the items prohibited at the polls in each state
Voters in 21 US states should select their voting attire carefully when heading to the polls tomorrow.


The 2024 US Presidential elections are upon us and early voting is already underway in many states with more than 75 million people already casting early ballots.

For those heading to the polls tomorrow to vote in person, it’s possibly a good idea to leave the Kamala 2024 or red MAGA baseball cap at home as in 21 US states, clothing or fashion accessories representing political messages are banned.

Almost 50% of US states prohibit anyone from wearing campaign apparel or button/pin badges within a certain distance of a polling location with this ruling also extending to campaign worker and of course, individual voters.

US states with clothing restrictions at polling stations
Arkansas, California, Delaware, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Vermont.
Anything goes in seven states
For voters living in: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Washington, and West Virginia, voters can wear what they like with the aforementioned the only states that don’t explicitly ban either election paraphernalia such as posters, flyers, or clothing such as caps, badges and t-shirts.
