The U.S. presidential election will take place on Tuesday, November 5. Republican candidate Donald Trump is seeking to return to power after serving a president from 2016 to 2020.
You’ve probably heard Trump supporters identify themselves under the acronym MAGA, which stands for “Make America Great Again”. However, do you know how it came about?
The phrase “Make America Great Again” was s. At the time, the United States was going through a difficult economic period, which he used as a springboard for his campaign. “For those without job opportunities, we will encourage new opportunities, particularly in the inner cities where they live. For those who have abandoned hope, we will restore hope and welcome them to a great national crusade to make America great again.”
Trump and “Make America Great Again”
In 2011, amidst rumors that Trump would run against Barack Obama for president, the Republican issued a statement in which he did not rule out running in the future and noted that “I must keep all my options open because, above all, we must make America great again.”
That was the first time Trump used the phrase, which he coined during his presidential campaign. Trump officially began using the slogan on November 7, 2012, the day after Obama won re-election over Mitt Romney.
On November 12, he filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office requesting exclusive rights to use the slogan for political purposes. For his 2016 presidential campaign, caps and T-shirts with Trump’s slogan began to be sold.
“Make America Great Again” has become the emblem of Donald Trump’s campaign, who will once again seek to win the presidential elections, now with J.D. Vance as his running mate for vice president.
