Why is RFK Jr. still on the ballot in Wisconsin and Michigan despite not being a candidate?

If you’re looking at your ballot in Wisconsin or Michigan in today’s presidential election, you might be wondering why Robert F Kennedy Jr. is there on the paper. RFK Jr. stood down from his independent presidential campaign back on in August, endorsing Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Why is RFK Jr.’s name still on the ballot?

The former independent presidential candidate had put his hat into the ring and started his presidential campaign back in April as the candidate for the Natural Law Party, which meant in those states where he was on the ballot it was unlikely he would be able to have his name removed, with early voting having already taken place.

In Wisconsin the law says that candidates on the ballot can only be taken off if they die. RFK Jr is still alive and hoping for a place in Trump’s executive, where he says he has been provided “control of public health agencies”.

In Michigan, RFK Jr. went to court to have his name taken from the ballot, but in a ruling against him the court said it was too late for such a change to be made.
