Was Siri spying on your conversations? Apple will pay a $95 million settlement to affected users: Check if you can claim a payment
Apple must pay over $95 million to customers after a class action lawsuit accused the company of eavesdropping through Siri.

Apple is on the hook to pay over $95 million to customers after a class action suit was brought against the tech giant for listening in on private conversations through Siri.
The case’s initial plaintiff was Fumiko Lopez, who filed his suit in 2021, alleging that Apple was using Siri to listen, collect data, and sell it to third parties. The platinffs argued that Apple knew that many customers were concerned about their privacy when having Siri activated on their smartphone, laptop, or other Apple device and that the company “assured, and continues to assure, its customers, [...] that SIri Devices will only listen to, record, and share their conversation with their consent.”
Nevertheless, Apple chose to settle the case for $95 million and deny that the company “did anything improper or unlawful.”
Who is eligible to receive part of the settlement?
According to the settlement website, those who are known to be eligible will have been sent a postcard.
Those who believe that they might be eligible but did not receive any notifications are encouraged to submit a claim by July 2, 2025. An individual can file a claim for five devices, and they must meet the following criteria:
- you purchased or owned Siri Device in the United States or its territories and enabled Siri on that device,
- you experienced an unintended Siri activation, and
- the unintended Siri activation you experienced occurred during a conversation intended to be confidential or private.
The settlement includes a cap of $20 per eligible device. If you have questions about whether or not you are eligible, you are encouraged to contact the Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator.
