What are the winning numbers for Wednesday, 3 July’s $138 million Powerball jackpot?
The Powerball jackpot has continued to climb, reaching $138 million now up for grabs. Here are the winning numbers for tonight’s draw.
Whenever a lottery jackpot reaches ten figures, it draws particular attention across the United States. These mammoth, billion-dollar top prizes have become increasingly common in recent years, and the eighth-largest jackpot in US history was dished out on 6 April.
In that drawing, one lucky ticket in Oregon scooped the $1.3 billion jackpot, the fourth-largest prize in Powerball history. While the latest jackpot that was won on 10 June was a tad smaller at $223 million it is still a life-changing amount. The jackpot reset once again to $20 million, but has now climbed to $138 million, which will be up for grabs this evening.
What are the winning numbers for Wednesday, 3 July?
The winning numbers for Wednesday night’s drawing were 2, 26, 33, 55, 57, and the Powerball is 22. The Power Play was 2X.
How can I play Powerball?
Powerball costs $2 per ticket and is available in every US state except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. You can also take part in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
To play, you must choose five numbers between 1 and 69, and an additional ‘Powerball’ number between 1 and 26. To secure the jackpot, all six of your selected numbers must match those that are drawn. The top prize grows after each draw until it is won.
Jackpot winners can choose to receive their money in 30 installments over 29 years (the annuity option), or as a lump sum (the cash option). If you opt to be paid up front, you get a lower amount, which is approximately half of the original jackpot. Winnings are pre-tax amounts.
Smaller prizes are also available if you correctly guess some, but not all, of the winning numbers.
When are Powerball draws?
There are three Powerball draws a week, held at 10:59 p.m. ET / 7:59 p.m. PT on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Powerball Double Play
If players pay $1 extra for Powerball Double Play, their winnings will be multiplied by two, three, four, five or ten, depending on the multiplier number picked out of the hat before the draw takes place.
The Double Play game is only available in 13 lottery jurisdictions: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington DC.
Unlike the regular Powerball draw, which features a rolling jackpot that increases for every draw without a winner, the Double Play top prize is set at a fixed amount. Every week a top cash prize of $10 million is on offer for players.
