What channel is the ball drop on? How to watch the New Year’s Eve festivities at Times Square in New York
New Year’s Eve is upon us, and the Times Square festivities are a hugely popular event in the calendar of many.
The final preparations are underway before around one million people fill out Times Square on the night of December 31 to watch the moment the clock ticks over into 2024 in what is set to be the biggest gathering since before the COVID pandemic in 2019.
On the television, a whopping 1 billion viewers are expected to tune in to watch the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball descend form a flagpole on top of One Times Square in Manhattan.
Organisers say the ball drop can be seen best along Broadway from 43rd to 50th streets or along Seventh Avenue up to 59th Street.

What channel is the ball drop on?
Plenty of channels will be showing the ball drop at the Big Apple, with them either showing updates of the fun or dedicating a full show to the festivities. For example, CBS will be broadcasting a central time zone-focused Music Note Drop in Nashville, Tennessee while periodically checking in on New York’s fun throughout the evening.
ABC have Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, Green Day and Thirty Seconds to Mars among their expected guests as Ryan Seacrest presents the famous show.
CNN’s broadcast will come from the Bahamas, Florida, New Mexico, and Miami, among other places as anchor Anderson Cooper and reality television star Andy Cohen host for the seventh year running. Flo Rida, Enrique Iglesias, David Blaine and the Jonas Brothers will give a 2010s vibe to the broadcast while Neil Patrick Harris will no doubt provide some comedy moments.
Univision’s coverage, like the rest, will cover NYC, while also checking in on Los Angeles, California, Florida and Mexico in their show, ¡Feliz 2024!
