What is the ‘J6 Awards Gala’? Is Donald Trump hosting an event for U.S. Capitol rioters?
Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf club will host an event for a nonprofit that supports people criminally charged in the Jan. 6 assault on the US Capitol.
A nonprofit organization called Stand in the Gap is holding a fundraiser next month at former President Donald Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The group is raising money to “provide much-needed assistance to the January 6th defendants who continue to face significant challenges,” states the online flyer for the event it’s calling the ‘J6 Awards Gala’.

The J6 Awards Gala is being hosted by First Class Label Group and Vote Your Vision who are sponsoring Stand in the Gap according to the flyer.
On the event’s website, photos of Trump and his former lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, feature prominently at the top along with MAGA influencer Anthony Raimondi. All of them are listed as invited guest speakers. Representatives for Giuliani have not yet responded while those for the former president say that he is not attending.
The same day as the J6 Awards Gala event a hearing is scheduled to be held at the Federal District Court in Washington DC on the next steps in the federal election subversion case in which Trump is charged. Judge Tanya Chutkan will hear arguments from his defense team and prosecutors led by special counsel Jack Smith to determine how the Supreme Court’s ruling granting broad executive immunity for former presidents will affect the criminal case against Trump.

Tickets for the event range from $1,500 for general admission to $50,000 for a VIP Platinum table for 12 guests. The organizers say that the J6 Awards Gala “will honor and celebrate the twenty defendants who contributed to the powerful ‘Justice for All’ song.”
The recording, in which defendants criminally convicted for their actions during the violent storming of the US Capitol sing the national anthem from their prison cells along with the former president, has been used by Trump to open campaign events.
Additionally, the event will pay tribute to “all J6 defendants who have shown incredible courage and sacrifice.” Trump has often referred to them as “hostages” and “political prisoners” and says that he will pardon them if re-elected.
As part of the fundraising event, the organizers are auctioning off “a signed custom Platinum Plaque commemorating the ‘Justice for All’ song featuring President Trump and twenty January 6th defendants,” according to the online flyer.
