Colorado has been ranked among the healthiest states in the country, and their latest program aims to ensure that this continues to be so.

The Colorado government has launched a state-wide program that will offer qualified residents up to $1,100 in rebates when they purchase an electric bike.

The first round to apply for the program began on Wednesday and will run until Monday, Aug. 21. You can submit your application at the Colorado Energy Office.

The scheme has been called the biggest e-bike rebate program in the country, with the vouchers projected to be available to all Colorado residents by next year.

Colorado residents with low to moderate incomes a priority

At the moment, the initiative is only available to residents with low to moderate incomes. Those who come from low-income households can be eligible for a $1,100 rebate from qualified retailers, while there will be a $500 rebate for moderate-income residents who make it into the program.

The income requirements for the program will be dependent on household income and the number of household members. To qualify for the low-income rebate, you must prove that household income falls below 80% of the area median income (AMI) by county.

If you wish to be eligible for the moderate-income refund, total household income must fall between 80% and 100% of the AMI.

Bicycle accessories also covered

Aside from subsidy for the bike, riders can also take advantage of the state’s $100 equipment incentives to help cover the purchase of a helmet and lock.

For those who need to modify their bike for physical needs, there will also be a $250 voucher for an adaptive e-bike for both low and moderate-income riders.

In case you miss out on the August window, the rebate vouchers will return in September and in November.
