Walers was a pioneer in the world of television and journalism for women. She became the first woman ever to anchor an evening news program, gaining the public’s trust in the United States, a task that today is increasingly difficult in the polarized political climate.

Barbara Walters had a remarkable television career that spanned over five decades. She was renowned for her interviews with numerous celebrities, presidents, and other heads of state, including Fidel Castro, Monica Lewinsky, and Katharine Hepburn, among others. Walters was part of various programs, including The Today Show, 20/20, The ABC Evening News, and The View. Her last appearance on TV was as a co-host of The View in 2014.
Barbara Walters passed away at her home in New York, as confirmed by her representative, Cindi Berger. According to Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger, Walters died “peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.” Though she had been struggling with dementia towards the end of her life, those close to her in her last moments said her last words were “No regrets – I had a great life.”
