When do July Social Security checks arrive? Complete schedule of payments
The Social Security Administration is preparing to issue a new round of payments corresponding to July. Consult the official check disbursement schedule.
Each month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) distributes millions of payments to beneficiaries of the programs it oversees. Among them are retirees, their survivors and people with disabilities who receive the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). These payments for the most part are issued based on the recipients’ date of birth:
It is worth mentioning that retirees before 1997 and SSI beneficiaries do not follow this payment schedule. Instead, their checks are issued at the beginning of the month, regardless of their date of birth . If a person receives both SSI checks and other Social Security benefits, the SSI payment will take priority and will be issued at the beginning of the month, while the other benefits will be sent on the third day of the month.

The amount of the checks varies depending on the individual situation of each beneficiary. According to SSA estimates, the average payment for a retired worker is $1,907 per month, while that couples filing taxes jointly receive an average of $3,303.
It is worth mentioning that this is only an approximate amount. Since the exact amount is linked to age, the maximum benefit for those who retire at age 62 is $2,710, $3,426 at age 65, and $3,652 at age 66. Those who wait until full retirement age are eligible for a payment of up to $3,822, while those who delay retirement until age 70 can currently receive a maximum payment of $4,873.
For SSI recipients, the average check is $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples. Whatever your amount, Social Security payments are adjusted annually based on the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), which helps align payments with inflation. In 2024, COLA increased by 3.2%.
