Bad news for Knicks fans: Here’s Jalen Brunson’s latest injury update and estimated return date
Brunson scored 39 points against the Los Angeles Lakers but was unable to finish the game after being forced off in overtime.

The New York Knicks were hit by a double blow in their game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday (March 7). Not only did they suffer an overtime defeat having gone into the final quarter eight points ahead, but key man Jalen Brunson picked up an injury that will keep him on the sidelines.
What injury does Jalen Brunson have?
On Friday, ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed that Brunson had suffered a right ankle sprain that will force him to miss two weeks of action. The All-Star guard rolled his right ankle with 1:24 remaining in overtime in the Knicks' 113-109 loss.
The 28-year-old crashed to the floor after a collision with Austin Reaves and stayed down for a lengthy period, receiving medical attention. He stayed in the game to shoot his free throws before making his way to the locker room.
Brunson outscored LeBron James and Luka Doncic with 39 points, also recording 10 assists and four rebounds. So far this season, he is in the league’s top 10 for both points (7th, 26,3 per game) and assists (8th, 7.4 per game), which means the Knicks are likely to feel his absence.
Which Knicks games will Brunson miss? When will he be back?
Provided the two-week timeframe is correct, Brunson will miss games against the Los Angeles Clippers (8th in the West), the Sacramento Kings (9th in the West), the Portland Trail Blazers (12th in the West), the Golden State Warriors (6th in the West), the Miami Heat (7th in the East), the San Antonio Spurs (13th in the West) and potentially the Charlotte Hornets (14th in the East).
New York are due to play the Hornets on Thursday, March 20. They will hope to have Brunson back for the home game against the Washington Wizards (15th in the East) on Saturday, March 22.
The Knicks’ 40-22 record has them in third place in the NBA Eastern Conference and they look to be in a strong position to reach the postseason for a third straight year, provided they can cope without Brunson.
