While Trump doubles down on fossil fuels, the world races toward a greener future
As the rest of the world moves towards a safer future for all, Donald Trump continues his objective to plunge America into the dark ages.
The heartwarmingly pleasing turnout across the country this weekend manifested itself in the shape of hundreds of thousands of frogs mixed in with numerous other animal companions; were it not for the equally impressive Halloween-themed ‘fuck ICE’ motifs scrawled across scarier masks, one might have mistaken the gatherings for synchronised fun-runs or Noah’s Ark recreations.
Despite the humour, the message was clear: we are not like you, Trump.
As Donald Trump drives the country into the Dark Ages, the people of America are making their voices heard, as is the rest of Planet Earth. Should aliens arrive tomorrow, it must be made clear that the man in power does not reflect the thoughts of a huge number of people who hold a vote.
The same goes for the health of the planet: Trump has made it clear that he is not a believer in Climate Change, something utterly stunning to anyone coming out of cryogenic sleep from 2015; as well as opinions, today’s world seems to allow you to have your own facts.
Given the startling situation presented by the scientists, many countries are working hard to reverse the effects of human-induced global warming, something that has become undeniable for anyone still holding onto a modicum of self-respect and accountability.
As such, according to data from the research group Ember, output from solar and wind sources surged so significantly that it outpaced the growth in electricity demand worldwide, signalling the potential beginning of a structural shift away from fossil fuels.
That surge isn’t just incremental. Solar generation alone jumped by roughly 30 per cent compared to the same period in 2024, and wind rose by about 7–8 per cent; as a result, for the first time, renewables managed to generate more electricity than coal-fired plants did.
Newsweek reported the good news, but did not fail to include the orange elephant in the room, stating that the US “did not keep up with power demand and fossil generation ticked upward.”
Clean energy expert Mark Jacobson of Stanford University told the outlet that “the challenge is that the U.S. has now embarked on a policy to stop renewable growth and increase fossil fuel growth, potentially slowing the world’s efforts to reach a real turning point in the energy transition.”

And so, while the world turns one way, Trump is pacing in the other direction, trying to spin the planet backwards, Superman style. And by that I mean wearing his pants on the outside of his trousers.
