Tina Turner, known as ‘The Queen of Rock’ has died aged 83. The singer, born in Brownsville, Tennessee in 1939, launched her career as the lead singer of Ike & Tina Turner Revue and was considered by many to be one of the most powerful and recognisable voices in music.

She told Swiss newspaper Blick ten years ago that she was “very happy in Switzerland” and that she gelt “at home here...I cannot imagine a better place to live”. Turner learned German and gave up her US passport in 2013; she married Bach in the same year. On the front of her estate there is a metal plaque that reads: “Do not even think about bothering Tina Turner before noon”.
