House of the Dragon and HBO present the Game of Thrones Tamagotchi

In a new display of marketing ingenuity, HBO has presented a first taste of what would become the official Tamagotchi of Game of Thrones. The streaming platform is preparing an Augmented Reality (AR) application that will soon allow us to raise our own dragon on any iOS or Android device (either mobile or tablet). Codenamed DracARys, we can think of a few better ways to promote House of the Dragon, the new series based on the books by George R. R. Martin.

House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones

Inspired by the novel Fire and Blood by George R. R. Martin, House of the Dragon is set thousands of years before the story of Jon Snow and company. In it, we will learn about the ascent to power of the Targaryen dynasty. From the moment they settled in Dragonstone until they conquered Westeros, through the founding of the Iron Throne and the so-called Dance of Dragons, the civil war between the Targaryen heirs that nearly ended their lineage.

The idea of the app to breed dragons is not bad considering that House of the Dragon is set in a time when they are not endangered. The list of them in the book is not exactly short. Meleys, Sunfyre, Vhagar, Tessarion, Cannibal... in every shape and color. In the first trailers of the series, we have already seen some of them, such as Syrax, a yellow-scaled female that is Rhaenyra Targaryen's personal dragon, or Caraxes, the Blood Amphipteran, a fearsome and experienced red dragon that fights alongside Daemon Targaryen. Don't worry, you won't miss Drogo, Rhaegal and Viserion.

House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO MAX on August 22, so expect DracARys to arrive earlier. The series will have 10 1-hour episodes, a second season is confirmed and it's not the only thing on the way about Game of Thrones. George R. R. Martin himself has just this week unveiled a sequel about Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and what happened when he went to the other side of the wall. Long live the Seven Kingdoms.
