Nintendo apologizes for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, announces new patch incoming

Mixed between jokes, memes and anger, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has had a mostly negative reception. Even though Game Freak and Nintendo’s newest and biggest title became its fastest selling release ever, the Nintendo Switch exclusive launched with severe bugs, glitches, and performance issues. Up until now both developer and publisher had kept quiet, but today Nintendo announced that an update will be released soon.

Version 1.1.0 of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet releases today, December 1st, and the official Nintendo of America account on Twitter seemingly acknowledged the game’s problems on the official post. The tweet reads: “A software update for #PokemonScarletViolet (Ver. 1.1.0) will be released on 12/1. We take the feedback from players seriously, and will continue to work on improvements to the games.”

What’s coming in Patch 1.1.0?

  • Season 1 of Ranked Battles begins. You'll be able to enter the Battle Stadium to face off against other players online with every Pokémon you’ve captured during your time with the games. Every player will receive an in-game notification with the details on how to join.
  • An error in which music didn’t play correctly during the Elite Four battles and Champion’s Road’s final battle was fixed.
  • Other bugs have been fixed (no specific details).

There has been no mention of performance fixes as of this moment, but one would like to believe that this is was Nintendo intends to do with their “improvements to the games” Recently, some players managed to discover a glitch that allows them to duplicate both Legendary Pokémon, Miraidon and Koraidon, exploiting the error and flooding trade stations with copies of the creature.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has been dominating the Nintendo Switch market ever since its release. In only three days, they managed to sell over 10 million copies around the world, as was revealed by The Pokémon Company.
