Final Fantasy VII Remake will never come to Xbox because of Sony, according to Microsoft
The battle between the two companies over the purchase of Activision Blizzard and the courts on the horizon does not cease. Watch out for the new accusation against Sony.
We will finish the year and continue talking about the dispute between Microsoft and Sony. You already know the reason: the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by the Redmond-based company, which plans to take over the huge conglomerate of studios and franchises for a figure of almost 70 billion dollars. The original announcement was the year's big news, and during the last few months, it has been a rare day when we don't learn new details about the operation.
As you well know, Sony (PlayStation) has always shown its refusal to the purchase, since franchises such as Call of Duty could affect significantly its annual revenues -and therefore its future. In the midst of a battle with different organizations (CMA, FTC...), both companies have presented arguments to defend themselves, although at times it has seemed that it was an attack on their rival, and the most recent one is quite remarkable.
Sony has blocked Final Fantasy VII Remake on Xbox, Microsoft says
The remake of the seventh installment of the Square Enix franchise debuted exclusively for PS4, along with a banner that referred to a period of temporary exclusivity. At the time, several doubts remained in the air: what other platforms would it reach? when and under what conditions? The game ended up coming to PC, but at the time of writing there is no possibility that it will be released on Xbox consoles, and that next March will be 3 years since its launch.
As part of the report sent to the CMA, Microsoft accuses the Japanese company of demanding the exclusion of several games that will not come to Xbox, and one of them is Final Fantasy VII Remake, probably the highest-profile case of all if we take into consideration that Xbox has many other games in the franchise. Incidentally, they also mention others such as Bloodborne and the future Final Fantasy XVI and Silent Hill 2 Remake, both console exclusives on PS5.
