Metal Gear Solid: Raiden voice actor reveals there’s news coming “in the coming weeks”
After Silent Hill’s return, eyes are turning in the direction of the franchise started by Hideo Kojima that hasn’t had a new entry since Metal Gear Survive.
Rumors about the future of the Metal Gear Solid franchise have been sneaking around the internet for years, but just like it happened right before the official announcement of Silent Hill’s return, Konami has been entirely quiet. Will 2023 be the year in which we get some news about it? Quinton Flynn, Raiden’s voice actor, seems to have pointed at a big reveal in the next few weeks.
Through Twitter, the actor answered a fans’ inquiry about a possible Metal Gear Rising 2 being announced. As is to be expected in this industry of secrets and surprises, the actor did not specify anything definitive, but he did say that we should stay alert for something coming from Konami’s reactivated forges: “Stay tuned for things to be announced in the coming weeks”, he said with a winky emoji.
What happened to the Metal Gear Solid movie?
The only project based on Metal Gear Solid that has been officially confirmed at this time is the movie adaptation, a production that has been under development for a long time starring Oscar Isaac… if it ever actually happens. Isaac said back in 2022 that the team behind the movie still wants to bring it to the big screen: “We want it to happen .Be excited. What's the script? What's the story? What's the take? [...] But hopeful that comes to fruition because there's so much potential for that. It's an incredible game. It's my favorite”
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was the last game of the series written by Hideo Kojima. The legendary Japanese developer abandoned Konami and created Kojima Productions, studio responsible for Death Stranding. Metal Gear Survive, a zombie survival spin-off that wasn’t very well received by fans or critics, had no input whatsoever from Kojima.
Konami has shown recently its willingness to partner with external studios to bring Silent Hill back to life. This is why Bloober Team, developers of The Medium, is in charge of the Silent Hill 2 remake. Silent Hill F and Silent Hill Townfall, from studios Neobards Entertainment and No Code respectively, are among the other coming projects of the company.
