The Squid Game reality show pushes its contestants to the limit: "You could hear someone yell ‘medic’"

The filming of The Squid Game: The Challenge, as the Netflix-produced reality show based on the popular Korean series is called, is not slowing down in real life, although some problems have presented on set. According to Variety, at least five contestants required medical attention on the first day. One of them "is believed to have injured their shoulder after accidentally running into a wall," while others suffered minor ailments.

On the other hand, The Sun reports that the cold snap in England has had some consequences for the crew. Filming began last Monday at Cardington Studios, north of London, where temperatures dropped below zero degrees Celsius (or 32 degrees Fahrenheit). Although they point out that the participants were given thermal clothing to withstand the weather, not everything went as expected.

Withstanding the cold, an extra challenge on set

"Some people couldn’t move their feet because it was so cold,” said The Sun's source. “You could hear someone yell ‘medic’ and the crew would rush on. We ended up standing there for 30 minutes between takes.”

Following reports in recent days, a Netflix spokesperson told Variety the production company's official position: "We care deeply about the health and safety of our cast and crew, and invested in all the appropriate safety procedures. While it was very cold on set, and participants were prepared for that, any claims of serious injury are untrue."

The first test they faced was Red Light, Green Light. For those who have not seen the original series, this challenge requires players to stand still in the same position when a character points at them. If they move, they are automatically eliminated. Variety reports that only 228 of the 456 contestants were able to complete the challenge. No release date is known at this time.
