Nintendo Switch surpasses Game Boy to become the third best-selling console in history
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet push helps Nintendo Switch sell 8 million units over the holidays, making it the third best-selling console in history.
Switch continues to make history. Nintendo published the financial results after its last quarter (the third of the fiscal year, which runs from October 1 to December 31). The company has confirmed that it has sold more than 8 million consoles during the same. A figure that is hard to believe when you consider that we are talking about a console with 5 years of life behind it. Although, as always, the numbers grow when there is a catalog that follows; in this case, Nintendo users do not have much to complain about. Bayonetta 3, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet... it was a good end of the year and it shows. The push has been such that the platform has overtaken the Game Boy in total sales to become the third best-selling console in the history of video games.
Considering that 2023 is the year of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and that we've even confirmed a new Nintendo Direct full of announcements, how far-fetched is it to think that Switch could reach the numbers of the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2? It seems like an impossible task, but…
