Fans protest during Nintendo Treehouse over the cost of Switch 2 and its games: “Lower the prices”
The Nintendo Switch 2 Treehouse event became the stage for fans to voice their frustration over pricing.

The unveiling of Nintendo Switch 2 has sparked mixed reactions. While early impressions from those who have tested the console suggest that the company has crafted an impressive piece of hardware, many were shocked by the pricing details revealed after the Direct. During the first edition of the Switch 2 Nintendo Treehouse, users expressed their dissatisfaction by flooding the chat with a clear demand.

“Lower the prices,” fans demand during the Switch 2 Treehouse
As shown above, players used the public chat during the Nintendo Treehouse to voice their dissatisfaction with a resounding message to Nintendo: “Lower the prices.” Many find the software prices particularly steep. For example, Mario Kart World is set to cost $89.99 for the physical version and $79.99 digitally via the Nintendo eShop.
This marks the first first-party game from any of the three major gaming companies to exceed $89.99, excluding special editions. Opinions on the console’s base price, $449.99, are divided: some consider it fair for the technology offered, while others believe it could have been more affordable.
Accessory prices also play a role in the debate. The Switch 2 Pro Controller will retail for $79.99, though there’s some good news: the original Pro Controller will work seamlessly with the new console, except for games requiring specific new features. Notably, this does not include the “C” button; for older controllers, its function can be replaced by holding down the Home button longer.
