‘Avengers: Doomsday’ unveils full cast and confirms its goal: to bring back the illusion
Marvel reunites the superheroes’ top brass with this cast of familiar MCU actors.
The goal: To bring back the excitement surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s the production company’s goal as it returns to work with the Russo brothers on the new phase of the Avengers. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in May 2026, setting up what will happen a year later in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, the saga’s big moment on the big screen. Meanwhile, the team has already revealed the superheroes who will return to take on Robert Downey Jr.’s dreaded Doctor Doom.

This is the big goal that the Russo brothers will be pursuing with the new Avengers
The Russo brothers are so committed to the project that they will be looking to change the path the MCU has taken so far. As they themselves recently admitted, they will be looking to “bring back a focused narrative” with the next two Avengers films. That was the successful ingredient of the previous editions, and that is what they will try to replicate with these steps forward.
It should be noted that this is very difficult to achieve. There is a simple reason for this: all the superheroes on screen have backstories that allude to different films. It will be up to them to redirect the narrative so that what happens stays there.
