Bethesda aims for 10% of Starfield planets to have life on them

Bethesda’s new title will feature more than 1000 planets and a large amount of content.

Update:
Bethesda aims for 10% of Starfield planets to have life on them

It’s just over two months until Starfield arrives on Xbox, September 6th to be exact, but the news just keeps coming. This time it’s the executive producer himself, Todd Howard, who has revealed new details about the Bethesda-developed title during an interview on the Kinda Funny Games channel.

Content, planets and plenty of exploration

We know that Starfield is going to be a huge game, but now we are starting to become aware of how much content the title will have. For example, Howard explained that the Starfield universe will have more than 1000 planets, and Bethesda is trying to make sure that 10% of them are inhabited, so we will not just find empty planets. Not only that, but exploring planets will have its rewards, because if we study them completely, the information we gather can be sold for credits. Additionally, Howard says in the interview that there is a mechanic where we can get sick if our suit does not meet the requirements of the planet.

And what about the creatures that will plague the universe? Well, we will find different types that can be hostile or docile, and they will interact with each other as predators and prey do in the real world. The only problem is that we will not be able to use them as mounts, since the displacement will be done by the propulsive backpack we have, and there will be no terrestrial vehicles.

Companions and Decision Making

One of the most interesting topics discussed in the interview is Starfield’s relationship system. In addition to the four possible romances, there will be a friendship system with the ship’s crew that will make our companions change their mood based on the decisions we make. Howard also said that “technically” we will have the ability to make the ship’s crew completely robotic.

Maximum customization

Customization in Starfield will be extensive. From the exterior and interior of the ships to the construction and decoration of the outposts, both will have a wide and deep system that will allow us enough freedom. We will even be able to steal ships and customize them, although they will have to be registered first. Of course, not everything will be good news. For those of you who were hoping to take a break and get away from it all, Starfield will not have a fishing mechanic.
