Everything we know about ‘Alien: Earth’ on Disney+: release date, trailer, and where it fits in the timeline
Noah Hawley brings the Xenomorphs to our planet in the franchise’s first-ever live-action series.

In just over a month, ‘Alien: Earth’ will make its long-awaited debut on Disney+, marking the first time the legendary sci-fi franchise ventures into the world of serialized television. Created by Noah Hawley (Fargo), the series is already one of the most anticipated releases of 2025, and for good reason. For the first time, the Xenomorphs are coming to Earth.
What is ‘Alien: Earth’ about?
The story begins when a mysterious spacecraft of unknown origin crashes on Earth. A young woman named Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling), and her team of tactical soldiers investigate the wreckage—only to uncover a deadly biological threat. What they find is a predatory lifeform more terrifying than anything they could have imagined.
With the fate of humanity hanging in the balance, the group must make decisions that could alter the course of civilization itself.
When does ‘Alien: Earth’ premiere?
The series will premiere on August 13, 2025, exclusively on Disney+, with new episodes releasing weekly.
Where does it fit in the ‘Alien’ timeline?
‘Alien: Earth’ is set two years before the events of ‘Alien’ (1979) and 22 years before ‘Alien: Romulus’. Here’s the updated chronological order of the saga:
- Alien vs. Predator
- Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
- Prometheus
- Alien: Covenant
- Alien: Earth
- Alien
- Alien: Romulus
- Aliens
- Alien 3
- Alien: Resurrection
Why fans are excited
With Noah Hawley at the helm and a grounded Earth-based setting, the series promises a fresh yet faithful take on the franchise. The inclusion of Weyland-Yutani corporate intrigue, hybrid androids, and a new generation of Xenomorph horror could make this one of the most compelling entries in the saga to date.
