Square Enix

Final Fantasy XVI devs are looking at the possibility of releasing DLC for the game

Producer Naoki Yoshida has revealed the possibility of Final Fantasy XVI getting additional content in the “near future”.

Update:
Final Fantasy XVI

Naoki Yoshida is not ruling out DLCs for Final Fantasy XVI, the most recent Square Enix release. The new installment of the franchise was conceived as a full and complete product, although expansion options are on the table. At least that’s what the producer himself has assured in statements to GamerBraves, where he explained that they have listened to the players’ comments in this regard.

“As you know, going into FFXVI, the one thing we wanted to do is create a full complete story, something you can enjoy from beginning to end one hundred percent without any DLC. And I think we were able to do that,”, he said. Even so, the doors are not closed to working on additional content in the future. In fact, it seems that it will eventually happen.

“But now we understand that we’re getting feedback from players that have played the game and a lot of players want to see more and we know that and understand that. For us, we’re taking that and then thinking about our options moving forward, so hopefully in the near future we can have something that we can give to you all.”

Valisthea at war

In Final Fantasy XVI we play as Clive Rosfield, the son of the Archduke of Rosaria. The aristocrat suffers a tragedy firsthand, a critical moment that changes his life forever. The influence of the Mother Crystals and the lack of Aether they provoke are causing conflicts that leave the world of Valisthea on the brink of catastrophe. As the Blight gain ground, death takes over more and more places, leaving them barren and devoid of life. You can read our full review right here.

The title is currently available exclusively for PS5, although a PC version is already confirmed. To this day, it has not been confirmed if there will be a version for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The next title in the series is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is expected for early 2024.
