First ‘Superman’ teaser trailer has date and time for the first live-action look at the new DC Universe

Look, up in the sky...

The new DC Comics Cinematic Universe under James Gunn has been a long time coming. After a few years since its announcement, and a poor run at the box office for the last few films, the new beginning is about to begin. Although ‘Creature Commandos’ is already on MAX and as such kicks off the reboot, what people are waiting for is to see the action in the movies that will come from the hand of the company’s most emblematic superhero, Superman, and its first teaser trailer already has a release date.

The official Superman social media account has announced that the first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Superman will arrive next Thursday, December 19 at 6:00 am PT / 9:00 am ET. The release is accompanied by the logo that Superman will use in this movie, the phrase “Look Up” to finally announce the release date. The typography is reminiscent of that used in the films starring the legendary Christopher Reeve.

Along with the teaser announcement, one of the movie’s posters was shown, showing David Corenswet in the Superman costume soaring into the sky.

“I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much”

With these words, James Gunn announced the wrapping of the film on July 30. “The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set - and for that I am forever grateful.”

‘Superman’, originally announced as ‘Superman: Legacy’, features a huge cast that includes: David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. The movie is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025.
