First trailer for ‘Tron: Ares’ with Jared Leto unveiled: A clash of real and digital worlds

The film will exclusively premiere in theaters on October 10.

Tron Ares

Two worlds, two realities, and an unprecedented conflict. ’Tron: Ares‘, the third installment of the iconic 1980s saga, is gearing up for its theatrical release. Months ahead of its debut, Disney has unveiled the first official trailer, which tackles a timely topic: the rise of artificial intelligence. Of course, the narrative is steeped in fantasy and science fiction.

Directed by Joachim Rønning, the cast features renowned actors such as Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Andersen, and Cameron Monaghan. The film follows Ares, a highly sophisticated program orchestrating a mission from the digital realm into the real world. Humanity will confront artificially created beings for the first time.

From ‘Tron’ to ‘Tron: Ares’: Over three decades in the digital universe

As one of the first Disney science fiction films, ‘Tron’ was a groundbreaking one in 1982, pioneering the use of computer-generated effects, something the Hollywood Academy didn’t favor at the time, which led to it missing out on the Oscar for Best Special Effects. Fast forward over 30 years, and CGI has become a cornerstone of major productions, and we’re even seeing artificial intelligence in movies.

The sequel, ‘Tron: Legacy’, built on nostalgia and succeeded enough to prompt Disney to greenlight a third chapter.

‘Tron: Ares’ will premiere worldwide on October 10. It’s among Disney’s most anticipated releases, arriving just a year before the debuts of ’Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu’.
