FromSoftware reveals that the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of Erdtree, won’t be released anytime soon

Fans who were hoping to see Elden Ring’s Shadow of Erdtree during The Game Awards 2023 won’t get their dream fulfilled, as FromSoftware has just announced it’s not ready yet.

Bad news for all those who hoped to see Shadow of Erdtree during The Game Awards 2023. During an interview given on the occasion of the PlayStation Awards, FromSoftware’s community manager, Yashuhiro Kitao, spoke about the The Elden Ring DLC and confirmed that there is still quite a bit of time before we can return to the Lands Between.

“There are many users looking forward to the DLC. How is the development going?”. That was what was asked to Kitao, who for his part responded as follows: “I’ll talk about the DLC another time. It’s still some way off, but we are making good progress. Like “Bloodborne” and other games, there will be new battles and new characters.”

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree in The Game Awards?

We’ll have to wait and see if this is not a FromSoftware strategy to maintain hype in the face of an imminent announcement, since the studio has been a constant regular of the award ceremony hosted by Geoff Keighley. They have already won two awards for Game of the Year (for Sekiro and Elden Ring) and Hidetaka Miyazaki himself is a regular attendee of the event. After all, it’s already been two years since the release of Elden Ring and the fans are running up the walls theorizing just what could an expansion bring to the beloved title. After finding out about the character who stars in the DLC’s artwork, they are starting to run out of things to think about.

Until then there is no choice but to give the game another spin, for which these past few months FromSoftware has revealed the 5 most difficult final bosses of the same, the main causes of death (more than 30% are not in enemy hands!) and the 5 best spells and 5 best enchantments that can carry a Tarnished through the game.
