Disney+

‘Futurama’ is getting renewed for two more seasons on Hulu

Matt Groening’s long-running series about a strange future version of Earth is continuing on for two more seasons, as Disney+ has renewed ‘Futurama’ once again.

Update:
Futurama

Futurama’, the famous animated comedy and science fiction series from Matt Groening -creator of ‘The Simpsons’-, has been renewed for two additional new seasons on Hulu. This was revealed by Variety, confirming that the return of Fry, Leela, Bender and company will continue, at the very least, two more seasons that add to the revival premiered last year and whose second batch of episodes is yet to be released in 2024. Of course, seasons 12 and 13 are not expected to arrive soon, since there is still no date for the conclusion of the current season 11, scheduled for sometime next year.

‘Futurama’: a new opportunity for Fry, Leela and Bender

Let us remember that ‘Futurama’ premiered its first four seasons in 1999 through Fox to later become part of Adult Swim in Cartoon Network. They had four movies which were reissued to become the fifth season, broadcasted on 2008 through Comedy Central. This same network was in charge of the next two seasons, released between 2010 and 2013. And yes, the number of seasons varies depending on how each one counts the episodes broadcasted so far, whether or not counting the movies.

Be that as it may, we now have the official description of the new episodes of ‘Futurama’: “After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries.”

These would include “developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”

This, of course, means the return of the main voice cast with names as mythical as those of John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman. 20th Television Animation is the publisher behind the project through the adult animation label Animayhem of Hulu. Matt Groening and David X. Cohen continue as executive producers, for the peace of mind of their fans.
