GTA 6 in 2024? Rockstar Games may have just revealed a launch window

Take Two’s latest financial report may have just revealed a release year for the long awaited GTA VI, pointing at a doubling of their revenue.

Update:
GTA VI

Blessed financial reports. Often they are more communicative than the companies who write them themselves. For example, the one that Take-Two has just presented to its investors. The publisher behind Rockstar Games has revealed its results during the first quarter of this fiscal year (from April to July) and has accompanied them with a new and hopeful glimpse of what is to come.

In the document in question, Take Two has once again mentioned (and it’s not the first time) that the company expects a new revenue record for fiscal year 2024, that is, between April 2024 and March 2025. “We still expect to deliver $8 billion in Net Bookings… next year,” were the words used. This supposes double what was planned for this period, and that one is including a new port of Red Dead Redemption (and the tenth anniversary of GTA V), meaning Rockstar Games is not expected to have a bad season exactly.

Although Take-Two does not make any direct allusion to Grand Theft Auto VI, there are few announcements capable of boosting the revenue of a company in such a way. But let’s not claim victory yet. The game could well be announced at the end of 2024 with a goal of releasing in 2025 and the publisher’s forecasts could well be based on what they are going to earn just from preorders. What is certain is that GTA 6 is now only one or two years away at most.

The only words from Rockstar Games speaking directly about the future of the series occurred as follows: “Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered. We’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready”
