Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is Lance Reddick’s last-ever role in video games
Hellboy: Web of Wyrd has finally launched, and it marks the last-ever performance in video games for Lance Reddick before he passed away this year.
Developed by Upstream Arcade and published by Good Shepherd Entertainment, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd has launched on multiple platforms, bringing with it the voice of Lance Reddick as the titular demon detective. This marks what is probably his last-ever performance in the videogame industry following his passing earlier this year.
A roguelike action brawler that brings Mike Mignola’s iconic shadowy style to life, Web of Wyrd was revealed only last year, promising to be an incredible adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics series by working directly with its creator. In it, Hellboy is sent to investigate the disappearance of a BPRD agent, only to find himself in The Wyrd, a realm that seems to be testing his strength.
Lance Reddick and his legendary video game career
Probably best known for his acting career on the big screen, where he played the beloved concierge of the Continental hotel in John Wick, Charon, Reddick also had a prolific career as a voice actor.
Fans of Destiny 2 held him in high regard especially, as he played the figure of Commander Zavala, leader of the Titans and the Vanguard that has been a constant in the story of the series ever since the original game was released almost ten years ago. This character will now be voiced by Keith David.
He also gave voice to Sylens, a mysterious character that seemed to be integral to the story of the Horizon series by Guerrilla Games. In the latest title of the series, Horizon: Forbidden West, his storyline was left open for a return, although whether his role will be recasted, removed entirely, or maintained somehow through the use of AI replication is still to be revealed.
Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.
