‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 already has a release window, according to Matt Smith
Matt Smith, the actor that plays Daemon Targaryen in HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’, claims that with the work done in 2023 we’ll only have to wait a few months for Season 2.
The team behind ‘House of the Dragon’ already had a lot of work ahead of it, but fortunately, it is one of the very few series that was not affected by the strikes of actors and screenwriters in Hollywood. This means that its schedule has continued as initially planned after the end of the first season, so now it’s been confirmed that the second season will arrive in 2024, and there is practically even an approximate date.
When does the second season of ‘House of the Dragon’ premiere?
Matt Smith, the actor who plays the charismatic Daemon Targaryen, ensures that we will not have to wait more than a few months to continue enjoying the dispute between Rhaenyra, Alicent, and the other characters who were able to captivate the followers of ‘Game of Thrones’.
“August, I think, I think summer,” said Smith in an interview. “This summer, yeah. I’ve not seen any of it yet but we finished last year.” Curiously, the first season of ‘House of the Dragon’ also premiered in the month of August, in this case in 2022, so there are already precedents for a great summer premiere.
What is also confirmed is who will be behind the cameras in all 8 episodes of this second season. Alan Taylor, already a ‘Game of Thrones’ veteran, will direct episodes 1 and 4, while Clare Kilner will direct episodes 2 and 5. On the other hand, Geeta Patel will direct episodes 3 and 8, Andrig Parekh in the sixth, and Loni Peristere in the 7th.
And as expected, there will be no changes in the cast, and in addition to Smith, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke return as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower respectively. Eve Best will return as Rhaenys Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, and Fabien Frankel in the role of Ser Criston Cole.
