Microsoft begins Redfall refunds after game’s canceled DLC
After a few weeks of uncertainty about Redfall’s post-release content of The Hero Pass, Microsoft has begun the process of refunding those affected.
Following the closure of Arkane Studios a few weeks ago, additional content for their latest title, Redfall, was left in limbo. Without a studio to continue the game, those who had purchased the Hero Pass or the premium Bite Back Edition separately were left wondering what would happen to the game.
At the time, Arkane Austin confirmed that this DLC would no longer be released and that players would receive pass credits instead. The Hero Pass would give access to two future heroes of the game, each with new skills and unique gameplay. Time has passed, and recently some users who digitally purchased the Bite Back Edition or the premium Bite Black update of Redfall have begun receiving refunds from Microsoft. Some users have taken to social media to report that the company has refunded the full amount of the DLC.
These refunds were automatically processed through the Xbox Store, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store, or Steam. For now, those who purchased the physical edition will need to go through a process with the store to request a refund or store credit for this DLC, or through Bethesda Customer Support.
Redfall fails to live up to the hype
Arkane Austin’s latest title unfortunately failed to live up to the hype. After a launch full of bugs and a gameplay that did not live up what was expected with lackluster scores, the studio worked for a year to bring Redfall to the promised point. The game received its last update, version 1.451.3.0, in May of this year, just days before the studio was closed down along with Tango Gameworks. This update added an offline mode and other features.
