No friends? This is how you can play Elden Ring Nightreign solo

Going solo in Nightreign? Here’s how to survive without a squad, wether it’s enjoyable is up to you.

Elden Ring Nightreign

So, you’ve decided to brave Elden Ring Nightreign alone? No squad, no backup: just you, your weapons, and the terrifying creatures lurking in Limveld. While the game is built for three-player co-op (and definitively not two), solo runs are possible... if you’re prepared for a brutal challenge.

How to start a solo expedition

Before heading into battle, you’ll need to adjust your matchmaking settings:

  1. Go to the Roundtable Hold – This is your hub for managing expeditions.
  2. Select “Commence Expedition” – This opens the matchmaking menu.
  3. Navigate to “Expedition Type” – It’s set to Multiplayer by default.
  4. Switch to “Single Player” – This ensures you won’t be matched with random teammates.
  5. Choose your Nightlord target – Pick your boss and begin your solo run.

Once you’ve done this, the game will drop you into Limveld alone, with no teammates to revive you.

Solo play tips: because you’re on your own

Playing solo means no one is coming to save you, so here’s how to survive longer:

  • Pick the right classGuardian and Recluse are great for solo runs due to their defensive abilities and healing mechanics.
  • Use stealth – If you’re playing as Duchess, take advantage of invisibility skills to avoid unnecessary fights.
  • Stock up on flasks – You won’t have teammates to heal you, so maximize your flask charges before heading out.
  • Fight smartLure enemies one by one instead of rushing into groups.
  • Grab a revival item – Some relics allow one free resurrection, which is essential for solo players.

Is solo play worth it?

Let’s be honest: Elden Ring Nightreign was designed for co-op, and solo runs are significantly harder. While enemy health scales down, you’ll still face the same brutal bosses, and one mistake can end your run instantly, at least until the new patch releases that wil let solo players revive once during night bosses.

However, if you’re looking for the ultimate challenge, solo play forces you to master combat mechanics, making victories even more satisfying.

Playing Elden Ring Nightreign solo is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re determined to prove your skills, it’s absolutely possible. Just prepare for a fight, pick the right class, and don’t expect mercy from Limveld’s horrors.
