PlayStation users demand Sony tell them what happened after PSN crashed over the weekend

Some users just can’t forget what happened in 2011.

PlayStation Network

Almost 24 hours after the service went down, Sony has revealed that the PlayStation Network crash this weekend was due to an “operational issue”. However, some users are not taking this as an honest answer and want to know what exactly happened to the service.

Last Friday and Saturday, PlayStation Network users suffered a crash in the online system of Sony’s platform. Although Sony has already apologized for what happened and will offer PlayStation Plus subscribers 5 additional days of service, some users continue to show their displeasure. While some argue that PlayStation’s compensation is not fair since this affected all users, not just PlayStation users, others seem to remember a problem from fourteen years ago.

Some users have responded to PlayStation’s own tweet, mentioning that the explanation of the “operational issue” is very vague, some recalling what happened in 2011 when a data breach leaked the personal information of about 77 million accounts. Some users have asked for context on this “operational issue”, while others ask if they “need to know if we need to call our banks for new credit cards” as happened in 2011. Others, even more exaggerated, ask for “some extra free games” due to the trauma of the events of 2011, and of course there is even someone who asks for a GTA 6 as compensation.

The collapse of PlayStation Network showed the reality of the digital industry

It is worth noting that the demise of the service was not only a major blow to the digital world that the industry is currently targeting, but also to the physical world. As much as some gamers are reluctant to abandon the physical format, they found that some games are still available on disk and will not allow their users to play them due to the need to check the game’s DRM.
