We knew very little, practically nothing, about the new Peach game for Nintendo Switch. It was announced last June and the only thing we could see was a slight glimpse that left us wanting more, since its curious stage-like style was intriguing. Well, now we know what the game is like and it has surprised us all, since the latest Nintendo Direct has revealed its first impressive gameplay trailer.

Princess Peach: Showtime! releases on March 22, 2024, exclusively for Nintendo Switch, and in the video we can see how she changes into different costumes (detective, swordfighter...) and destroys hordes of enemies in a world much darker than what we usually see in the Mario universe.

Peach, much more than a secondary character

Princess Peach made her first appearance in 1985 (Super Mario Bros.) and since then she has been one of the most important characters in the history of the Mushroom Kingdom. She has been kidnapped by the evil Bowser on a thousand and one occasions, both in the main Mario saga and in derivative games like Paper Mario. But she has also participated in countless titles such as Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, and Mario Party, among others.

If in 1990 she starred in her first game (Princess Toadstool’s Castle Run), the one that really transcended with her as the only playable protagonist was Super Princess Peach for Nintendo DS, an interesting adventure with platforms and action that arrived in 2005.

Finally, we did not want to say goodbye without leaving you Bowser’s (Jack Black) wonderful song from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. in which the protagonist is, once again, Peach.
