Superman Legacy confirms the appearances of Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and Guy Gardner
The upcoming Man of Steel movie by James Gunn will expand the cast with three big Hollywood names, which means that Superman won’t be alone on the big screen.
Superman Legacy, the upcoming Man of Steel movie directed by James Gunn, expands its cast with three huge names after the recent confirmation of David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as the new Superman and Lois, respectively. Vanity Fair has announced that Isabela Merced, Eddie Gathegi and Nathan Fillion will join the project to play three DC superheroes beloved by die-hard fans of DC Comics: Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific and the green lantern Guy Gardner.
Three new superheroes are coming to the DCU
The most popular name in the announcement is probably Nathan Fillion, who recently appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and in The Suicide Squad, and is back to collaborate again with James Gunn to give life to Guy Gardner, one of the most peculiar Green Lanterns there has been. As a curiosity, in 2011 Fillion gave voice to the Hal Jordan version of the character in the animated movie Green Lantern: Emerald Knights; on the other hand, the actor was already part of the DCEU as T.D.K. in The Suicide Squad, which could be confirmation that the new DCU will be a total reboot, because of the fact that the same actor usually does not play several characters from the same universe.
For his part, Isabela Merced, after being Dora the Explorer in live-action and being part of the new Alien movie, will play Hawkgirl, a recurring character in other DC products such as Smallville and the Arrowverse. Let us remember that another member of planet Thanagar, Hawkman, debuted in the Black Adam film as part of the JSA, although it would have nothing to do with James Gunn’s new DCU.
Finally, actor Eddie Gathegi, known for his role in the Twilight saga, will take the role of Mister Terrific. However, at the moment it is unknown what version it will be, whether Terry Sloane or Michael Holt, one of the most intelligent people in the world with a markedly dark character, almost like an antihero.
We’ll see how all these characters fit together in the next Superman movie, where another of the new groups of characters already introduced by James Gunn, The Authority, is also scheduled to appear.
