Team Cherry breaks silence after the Xbox Showcase controversy at Summer Game Fest

If there’s one game that fans have wanted more of in recent years, it’s Hollow Knight: Silksong. At all sorts of events and gaming livestreams, users have put Silksong in the comments more as a meme than as a way to invoke it. However, at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Team Cherry’s title finally made an appearance—not as we expected—but with good news about its release.

During the presentation of the ROG Xbox Ally, Microsoft’s handheld console developed in partnership with ROG, one of the featured games was Silksong. The message was clear: the sequel to Hollow Knight will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one and will be available when the device hits store shelves later this year. It’s a wait in which we have a narrower launch window, but also, we still don’t know when exactly.

Team Cherry gives a little more on the subject

Although the date is still very much up in the air, a figure within Team Cherry has already given a little more to talk about. Matthew “Leth” Griffin, head of marketing and publishing, clarified the release date within the game’s official Discord: “I confirmed BEFORE holiday - we are not tied to a console release.”

This clarifies the situation that many people may have misunderstood: Silksong and the new ROG Xbox Ally will arrive on the same day. For now, we are waiting for the official release dates. Who will announce it first?
