There will be no new James Bond for a few years, according to those responsible for the franchise
The CEO of Amazon MGM Studios confirms that there won’t be a new James Bond for a few years. The production company is still planning the future of the saga.
James Bond fans will have to wait a few more years for the next movie. This is according to Jennifer Salke, CEO of Amazon MGM Studios, the production company created by Amazon’s purchase of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The studio is still working on the new tone and approach it wants to give to the next 007 after Daniel Craig’s passage through the franchise and its commitment to a darker and more realistic Bond.

As reported by The Guardian, Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon MGM Studios, has given important new information about the state of the ‘James Bond’ franchise. According to Salke, “There are a lot of ideas [about potential actors] that have popped up that I thought are interesting. I think there are a lot of different ways we can go. We have a good and close relationship with Eon and Barbara and Michael. We are not looking to disrupt the way those wonderful films are made. For us, we are taking their lead.”
“The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point,” the studio head said. This means that there will be no Bond for at least several years.
Salke also talked about the possibility of the next Bond appearing not in movies but in a new series, given Amazon’s purchase of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, to which he responded as follows: “When you are looking at iconic intellectual property like that, you look at what the entire long-term future might be. Of course you look at every facet.” The executive also denies that he had a falling out with Michael Broccoli for suggesting the possibility of a television series about James Bond.
The most recent film in the saga was ‘No Time to Die’, starring Daniel Craig, released three years ago in 2021. Considering that the longest gap in the franchise between one release and the next was six years - the time between ‘License to Kill’ (1989) and ‘GoldenEye’ (1995) - we shouldn’t worry too much for now.
