Netflix

These are the 4 original Power Rangers not returning for the big Netflix special, why?

Some of the most beloved and popular classic Rangers were left out of Power Rangers: Once & Always.

Update:
Power Rangers Once & Always

The day has come. Power Rangers: Once & Always, the special of the saga on Netflix, has arrived on the platform. Despite the return of Rangers like Walter E. Jones (Black Ranger), Catherine Sutherland (second Pink Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky, second Red Ranger), Karan Ashley (Aisha, Yellow Ranger) or Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, Black Ranger), there are four important absences that have not gone unnoticed, what are they?

Amy Jo Johnson (Pink Power Ranger)

Not all of the cast have spoken publicly, but Amy Jo Johnson, the original Pink Power Ranger, has already said on social media that she will not be reprising her role as Kimberly in Power Rangers: Once & Always. The actress, who has appeared in other events over the years, said: “For the record I never said no… I just didn’t say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in-store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick ass!”

Jason David-Frank (Green and White Power Ranger)

There was a glimmer of hope, but it was not to be. Jason David-Frank, one of the Rangers most closely associated with the saga, committed suicide after filming the episode. Many expected the charismatic actor to have recorded his scenes. However, the actor himself confirmed in a Facebook Live that he turned down the offer in order to seek new professional opportunities. Tommy Oliver will remain in the hearts of many fans.

Thuy Thang (Yellow Power Ranger)

Trini Kwan was the original Yellow Power Ranger, but tragedy seems to haunt some of the cast of the saga. Thuy Thang died very young, just 27 years old, in a car accident in 2001. However, as a tribute, he is seen in a photo during the episode.

Austin St. John (Red Power Ranger)

Another unknown was whether Austin St. John would appear in Power Rangers: Once & Always, but again, another bitter pill to swallow. The truth is, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the actor who played Jason in the first season of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers was arrested for defrauding the government in a case involving economic aid to those affected by the pandemic. This has not been officially confirmed, although it is expected that these legal problems may have had something to do with this decision.

Power Rangers: Once & Always will be available on Netflix on April 19.
