Warcraft Rumble has a release date and aims to be a simple experience

Earlier this week, Blizzard surprised us with the release date for its next mobile title, Warcraft Rumble, set for November 3 of this year. The title, which we first learned about as Warcraft Arclight Rumble a little over a year and a half ago, will be released on the same day that BlizzCon returns in an in-person format after a four-year absence.

Name change, release date, and how to play

Along with this announcement, we also had the opportunity to chat with Elhora Davis, Game Producer of Warcraft Rumble, and Josue Mariscal, Lead Technical Artist, who answered some questions about this title that is less than a month away from arriving on our devices.

Sure, things have not changed that much since the presentation in May last year, but there are some details we could ask about. The first was the name change, which is simpler and shorter. “Arclight is still very much part of the game, but I think part of it is that Warcraft Rumble rolls off the tongue better, is more snappy, more like we kind of intended the game to be,” Josue said. “We want to get right to the meat and potatoes of the game. Arclight is still an integral part of the game, Elhora replied. “What happens when you put the minis out is this arc energy that brings them to life.”

As for the release date, it is one that Blizzard considers very important, and it will be essential given the type of event that BlizzCon is. “In my humble opinion, it’s the perfect game to be played at BlizzCon,” Elhora said with a laugh. “About releasing it that day, BlizzCon is this amazing celebration where we really want to give back to our supporters. I think that is the perfect place to go and see people’s reactions to the game.”

Finally, one of the questions we had was how the game experience would be for people who did not know Warcraft but wanted to participate in Warcraft Rumble. While the game is designed to be easy, knowing the lore of the franchise helps, but Blizzard promises that there will be help for new players. “To trying to kinda help people ramp up to the gameplay of Warcraft Rumble we have this campaign, which is a handcrafted single-player experience with this extensive cast of Warcraft characters,” commented Elhora. “The campaign slowly introduces the mechanics to players as they progress. You can learn a lot in the 3 minutes [the game lasts] and it is just that easy to try again.

Warcraft Rumble will be available for iOS and Android, and pre-registration is now open on both platforms. To help ease the wait, Blizzard will be releasing a series of 3D-printable miniatures each Monday, featuring pieces from each of the game’s factions.
