Update:
Star Wars: Ahsoka to feature director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

The director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Peter Ramsey, won the Oscar for this animated film. As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, he will be in charge of directing at least one episode of Star Wars: Ahsoka, the second spin-off of The Mandalorian after The Book of Boba Fett, which debuted on Disney+ last December 2021.

Ahsoka began shooting last March in Los Angeles. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are leading the project, while all the directors who will be part of the series have not yet been revealed. Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Ahsoka Tano in a fiction that will reunite the character with her master, Anakin Skywalker, again played by Hayden Christensen.

From Clone Wars to Ahsoka

The one-time Padawan to Luke's father is a character created for The Clone Wars animated series, which also appeared in Star Wars: Rebels. Dawson is the first actress to bring the live-action version of this character to life, first seen in episode six of the second season of The Mandalorian. In The Book of Boba Fett she made an appearance in the penultimate episode. Now, she will have to hunt down Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Star Wars: Ahsoka has no confirmed release date yet, although Lucasfilm president Katheleen Kennedy said it would be next after The Mandalorian. In early 2022, The Book of Boba Fett wrapped and the next series to arrive on Disney+ will be Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will debut May 27 with a double episode.

As for the rest of the series confirmed for this year, there is still no date for Star Wars: Andor, the prequel Rogue One, or for the second season of The Bad Batch. It also remains up in the air the time chosen for us to enjoy the new adventures of Mando and Grogu. However, Giancarlo Esposito, Moff Gideon, has let slip that the third season could be ready for this summer.
