Inflation is slowly but surely affecting every aspect of our lives no matter where we are in the world. Having the luxury of owning a good-sized TV this year is more valued than one may think, as game ticket prices continue to sour.

The Hustle did us all a favor by giving us a nicely-formatted chart that shows how much going to an MLB game in 2022 cost for a family of four. For the sake of clarity, we will use these prices although it must be said that inflation will almost certainly see these prices increase by around 5% on average.

How much would it cost a family to go to an MLB game in 2023?

According to the study, the average cost for a family of four attending an MLB game was $204.76 last year. That price however does not only include four tickets, but also two beers, two sodas, four hot dogs, and parking.

The most expensive game to attend was the Red Sox game at the Fenway Park in Boston, averaged at $324 per the report. The most affordable baseball game on the other hand, was the Arizona Diamondbacks, which came in at $126.

The average ticket price at Chase Field in Phoenix was $35.93, while the average price for a beer was $6.87. That’s pretty affordable if compared to a New York Mets game in Queens, where a beer costs double, at $12.

Is inflation keeping MLB fans from going to games?

A recent study showed that 69% of Americans have not gone to a baseball game in 2023 with 71% of this category claiming they will not attend due to inflation.
