Lightning strikes twice: Zac Gallen and Randy Johnson
For only the second time ever (that we know of) a pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks threw a pitch that hit a bird mid-flight. What can it mean?

A product of Cajun country in south Louisiana, Jeff played football through high school, and baseball through college and beyond. After getting a BFA from the Savannah College of Art & Design, he moved to London, where he worked for Sky Sports and coached the 2005 British Champion Croydon Pirates baseball team. He also cooks a mean jambalaya.
Update:
Zac Gallen has done something that is so unusual that most of us thought that we would only see it once. He has thrown a pitch that has hit and killed a bird mid-flight.
While throwing sides, Gallen reportedly threw a curveball that struck the passing bird, unfortunately killing the animal.
Randy Johnson famously did the same thing back in 2001 during a spring training game. The Diamondbacks went on to win the World Series that season, leading many Arizona fans to see this as a sign of things to come.
