The Texas Rangers have now won one World Series, having claimed their first title, beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 to take the series 4-1.

Founded in 1961 as the Washington Senators, becoming the Rangers in 1972, the franchise had never managed to clinch the World Series till this year.

Texas Rangers World Series appearances

The Texas Rangers have appeared in the World Series twice before, in 2010 and 2011.

In 2010, the Rangers lost 4-1 to the Giants, while in 2011 they went down 4-3 to the Cardinals.

In total the franchise has made it into the post-season on 9 occasions, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2023.

Who has won the most and least World Series

The Rangers have now become the 25th franchise to win a World Series. They are tied on one win only with the Arizona Diamondbacks, who won their title in 2001; the Anaheim Angels (2002) and the Washington Nationals (2019)

This year, 2023, is the 119th World Series. The franchise with the most wins, and by far, is the New York Yankees who have claimed 27 titles. Next is the St. Louis Cardinals who have won 11.

Who has never won a World Series

With this triumph, the Rangers are off the list of franchises who have never won the title, with that number now down to five: San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, and Seattle Mariners.
